IKIGAI Creative Retreat: Fan painting and somatic wellness
In a fast-paced world, finding balance and inner peace can feel overwhelming. Musubu brings this ikigai workshop to Barcelona directly from Tokyo: an opportunity to experience “ikigai” up close (the Japanese philosophy often translated as “your reason to get up every morning”), beyond the popular four-circle diagrams circulating online. The original Japanese concept is much simpler: an accessible state of mind, focused on finding resilience and deep joy in everyday moments.
Claire and Anita, from their creative studio in Tokyo, bring to Musubu a cultural bridge that strips ikigai of modern filters to uncover its authentic roots.
During this immersive 3-hour workshop you’ll experience a four-part journey:
- You’ll discover the real history of ikigai.
- You’ll create a double-sided Japanese fan: a hand-painted lotus flower on one side and a vintage collage of your “small joys” on the other.
- You’ll release tension with a restorative somatic movement session.
- You’ll finish by trying on a traditional Japanese jimbei to take photos with your fan and share reflections.
No prior experience in art or movement required, all materials and clothing provided.
The workshop is taught in English and is aimed at an audience aged 20 to 50.
