Wabi Sabi. Artist Book
From November 5 to 27, Musubu presents Wabi Sabi, a collective exhibition of artist books. Eight artists explore a Japanese concept: there is beauty in the imperfect, in the unfinished, and in the ephemeral.
What is an artist book?
It is a work of art that takes the form of a book. It can be a unique piece or a limited edition, often featuring an unusual format. It is not just read: it is also looked at, touched, and explored with the hands. It sits halfway between literature and the visual arts.
What is wabi sabi?
It is a Japanese philosophy that values imperfection, the passage of time, and the transformation of things. In these books, you will find it in the textures, natural materials, intentional errors, and the artist’s touch. The book no longer serves only to store information. It becomes an object that ages and breathes.
Nothing is perfect, nothing is finished, and nothing lasts forever. That is where its value lies.
