Llar de Yukiko. Japanese craft workshops

Japanese craft workshops to create, with your own hands, pieces you’ll use every day, from November to February, at Musubu. On Thursdays, we’ll be waiting for you at Llar de Yukiko, a series of Japanese craft workshops with artist Yukiko Murata. In each session we’ll make a piece using fabric or paper, designed to be used and enjoyed.

The series has four modules of three sessions. You can sign up for the ones that interest you most. The modules alternate between two themes:

Mottainai (modules 1 and 3)
In Japanese, “mottainai” expresses the regret of wasting things. In these modules we’ll learn traditional techniques to make the most of materials: reduce, reuse and recycle, with simple, very satisfying pieces.

Paper as art (modules 2 and 4)
In Japan, paper isn’t only for writing. It’s used in architecture, decoration, toys and textiles. In these modules we’ll discover different techniques for folding it, wrapping with it, cutting it and tearing it.

Programme

Module 1. Tsutsumu (to contain). November 12, 19 and 26

  • November 12: kinchaku, a reversible bag made from recycled material
