Four Perspectives Exhibition
Catalonia and Japan. Although they are far apart, when we observe the daily life of both places, we discover unexpected similarities and very clear differences.
For example, in most Japanese homes, there is a microwave in the kitchen, while in Catalan houses, the oven is the main element. In summer, when it is hot, thin and light clothing is worn in Catalonia, while in Japan, it is not uncommon to dress in several layers.
Starting from small daily differences, such as cooking or the way of dressing, we invite you to rethink the values and ways of thinking of each culture. This is an exhibition born from the dialogue between people of diverse origins—Catalans, people from other regions of Spain, and Japanese—designed to be enjoyed by both children and adults.
What role do climate, values, and the way of thinking of each culture play behind these differences?
This exhibition stems from encounters between people of diverse origins—Catalans, people from other regions of Spain, and Japanese—who shared reflections based on one question: what does it mean to be “Japanese” or “Catalan”?
From this starting point, they discussed food, clothing, and housing, and from that exchange, perspectives and discoveries emerged about the daily lives of two different cultures that nonetheless share common ground.
The exhibition presents these viewpoints and reflections through real objects. During the exhibition period, there will also be various activities. It is an accessible proposal open to everyone, from children to adults.
When we understand the differences, the other culture becomes a little closer.

– Exhibition inauguration and opening of the “Dagashi BAR,” where we will offer wine and dagashi, traditional Japanese snacks. (June 18 at 7:00 PM)
