Kansha guided tour. Ceramic sculptures inspired by ancient Japan and Taíno culture
Discover this exhibition alongside the artists themselves!
An exhibition born from the desire to explore fundamental concepts of Japanese culture through kansha, along with Taíno cultural concepts also related to gratitude.
“Kansha” is a Japanese word meaning gratitude. In Japan, giving thanks involves recognizing the effort of others and paying attention to what we have been given.
The Japanese pieces are inspired by dogū and haniwa—ancient ceramics linked to ritual and funerary practices—symbolizing invisible notions that have shaped Japanese sensibility over time. The Taíno pieces are based on the cemí, sacred objects of Taíno culture that represented deities, nature spirits, or ancestors, holding a central place in their worldview.
