Toubako opening. Exhibition of artistic ceramic boxes

We invite you to the opening of Toubako, the group exhibition of ceramic boxes inspired by the Japanese tradition of tōbako, featuring work by eleven contemporary ceramists who reinterpret this format through sculptural and conceptual approaches.

An opportunity to see the pieces up close and share a first toast with the participating artists in a space designed for creation and connection.

Toubako is a collective exhibition dedicated to artistic ceramic boxes, inspired by the Japanese tradition of tōbako: vessels that combine functionality, aesthetic value, and cultural significance. These were often kept inside a kiribako, a storage box that documented the piece’s provenance and formed part of its historical and artistic value.

The proposal brings together works by contemporary ceramicists who reinterpret this format through sculptural and conceptual approaches, exploring the relationship between the object, the space it protects, and the memory it contains. The exhibition creates a dialogue between traditional Japanese craftsmanship and modern ceramic creation, showcasing the diversity of techniques, styles, and perspectives of the participating artists.
